Convertible Tagua Nut Necklace
This colorful, lightweight necklace can be worn multiple ways: as an extra long single strand in which the length is adjustable to your preference using the sliding bead in back OR use the same bead in back as a toggle clasp by passing it through one of the beads with the center cut out to create a double strand for a chunkier look. (see the third photo as an example)
Tagua nuts are the seeds from the fruits of the Ivory Palm. Female palms have clusters of large, woody, pointed, brown fruits that are the size of grapefruits or melons. The seeds are harvested from fruits that have naturally fallen to the ground. The Tagua nuts & the dyes with which they're colored are eco-friendly & provide a self-sustaining source of income for families in South America.
